Afua Haisaine was born in New Haven Ct.  Graduated from Brown University and Houston School of Midwifery.  She has  four children all born at home and breastfed all of them. She has been living in Houston since 1983. She  has attended more than 500 births. The Birthing Place was founded in 1995.  Until 2011 she only offered homebirth services. She choose the name Birthing Place because she wanted to help women learn that the birthing place was anywhere where they gave birth. The Birthing Place offers birth center births, homebirth services and well woman exams.
