Sherry Duson, the founder and director of The Center For Postpartum Family Health, has been helping new mothers and their families since 1999. Her own experience as a mother led to her interest in addressing the unique needs of women and parents during this important phase of family life. She is a marriage and family therapist in private practice and for years led weekly support groups for pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety at Houston area maternity hospitals. She is a board member and past president of The Yates Children Memorial Fund at Mental Health America of Greater Houston. She is also a professional member of Postpartum Support International (PSI) and was the co-chair of the PSI conference in Houston in 2008. The Center For Postpartum Family Health is a new counseling center specifically designed to give support, education and mental health services for new mothers and their families in the Houston area. Sherry and her staff of counselors and therapists have expertise in maternal mental health, such as pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety and can also assist in the normal transitions of personal and family development.
