Jami Hain is a certified nurse midwife and owner of Nativiti Family Birth Center in The Woodlands, Texas. She has been a nurse for 28 years and worked as a birth assistant and birth doula for approximately 10 years before becoming a midwife in 2012. She and her husband became the new owners at Nativiti in 2014 when the original owner, Melanie Dossey, was ready to retire.
Her passion is to empower women and families through education and shared decision making when it comes to their health and the health of their families. Helping women to trust the birth process and trust our bodies to birth and feed our babies, as well as providing personalized care for women’s health and pregnancy is the hallmark of her practice. She has been married to the love of her life for 40+ years and enjoys spending time playing board games with family … when she is not catching babies.
Sarah Owens has been a midwife at Nativiti Family Birth Center in The Woodlands, Texas for the past 3 and a half years. She graduated as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in 2018.
Sarah has been caring for laboring women for 17 years. Eleven of those years were spent as a labor and delivery nurse at a community hospital, the only one in the area that offered VBAC, with around 150 births per month. Her experience also includes 2.5 years as a labor and delivery travel nurse all over the United States working with many different unit and patient cultures. She completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice quality improvement project titled, “Birth Options Counseling Following Primary Cesarean Delivery: Patient Centered Care Utilizing Shared Decision Making”.
Sarah loves supporting laboring women and is passionate about seeing the ACOG recommendation that women with a history of cesarean birth be counseled about and offered a trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), become a reality for all women in Texas. Sarah, her husband and their 3 children moved to Texas from Oregon and have enjoyed exploring all the sites of this great state over the last 3 years.
